Since becoming president of World Vision in 1998, Rich has had the opportunity to put his faith into action every day by working to improve the lives of the poor. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. It is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, with 45,000 staff in almost 100 countries.
In keeping with the organization’s philosophy that local people are the best architects of solutions to their own challenges, the vast majority of World Vision’s staff are from the countries or regions in which they work, giving them an intimate understanding of the culture and an area’s unique issues. Motivated by faith in Jesus Christ, these dedicated workers come alongside the poor and oppressed — regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender — as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people.
